Wanna see my (possible) new room?!

Hey guys!

With my big decision to put my schooling on pause came major relief. I found myself much more excited to get out of bed in the morning these past few days and I find myself super pumped to get out in the world, which is something I haven't felt in a while. My one dark rain cloud that is looming over me (besides the typical "am I making the right decision" worries) is the fact that, if I don't go back to school next year, I will probably have to move back home with my parents.

Now, besides the fact that I am a normal human being and find the idea of
moving back in with my parents after I've experienced living 8 hours away for 2 years extremely unappealing, I will be very disappointed- scratch that, heartbroken- to no longer get to live in my apartment.

Well, I guess it isn't my apartment YET, but as of May 1st, my roommates T and Z and I will be moving into a beautiful place that I (yes, me...to add salt) found. This place is everything I looked for in a downtown apartment. It is much more affordable than anything else that we have come across since we will be turning it into a 3-bedroom by placing me in the secondary living room area. Yes, that does mean that I don't get a door but instead will be given a curtain, but that also means HARDWOOD FLOORS, or how about A FIREPLACE. Have I mentioned the TWO WINDOWS plus A BALCONY?!

Here are a couple pics of "my" room.

To put this in perspective, I must tell you about my current room. I live in the basement of a tiny 4-bedroom/1-bathroom apartment. To say that my room is small is a massive understatement. My room, which is completely void of any windows (completely illegal in my city), barely fits my single bed, small desk and book shelf. It has no formal closet but instead has what looks like a 5-foot tall cubby hole with a closet hanger bar. The ceilings are 6'2" max and this causes problems when the 5'10"-me puts on heels to go out. My room is also where all the gas-and-electrical-and-I-don't-know-what-else-closet is, and the separate hot water tank closet. To add icing to the cake, I have a heater that doesn't work so my room is constantly freezing during the cold winter and we have a suspicious and constant smell of mold. I'll be sure to blog soon about the adventures I had in transforming that room- you can trust that that took some work!

Understand my excitement about that room now? Haha.

Well either way, regardless of my living location next year, I plan on dreaming up a beautiful new design scheme for it. Since I am nearly broke and find it environmentally irresponsible to be buying all new things, I have one goal for this room: EVERYTHING will either be recycled, purchased at a thrift or resale store, found in the garbage, made by yours truly, or already be in my possession. What a project, eh?

If you guys have any ideas that get your DIY and thrifty hearts pumping, I'd love to hear from you!!

Keep it beautiful babes,
xxx
